The ventilation and air circulation fans of underground railway stations, Metro Railway, often need service. They are 6 feet in diameter rotating at an average of 2000 RPM, powered by variable speed brushless DC motor supplied with 600 VDC. The complex drive circuit requires testing and measuring the electrical parameters with the fan running. Of course, one cannot do that inside the wind tunnel without being sucked up and chopped off. Hence, datalogging multimeters are used, but not without drawbacks as the technician cannot get active reading updates while the tests proceed. The innovative new Fluke 233 can be hooked up and hanged with the ToolPak on the stator of the fan. I can foresee myself holding the remote display in hand while the actual meter is doing the job with the fan running. I can vary the speed and get active reading updates, like watching live news from battlefield while couched on a sofa. The Fluke 233 is a multimeter that I can use the most.

System fine tuning and commissioning of a Photovoltaic (PV) system is often one of the most important part of a PV system installation.
Calibration of irradiance sensors in photovoltaic system normally requires two workers. One person to measure irradiance while the other to measure the electrical output at the junction box located 5-8 meters away. Accurate instantaneous results are always desirable but the sun intensity is never constant due to weather variations. As a result, the Inherent time lags in communication always result in inaccurate measurement of data causing wastage in time and human resources.
With Fluke 233 Remote Display Multi-meter , fine tuning & commissioning of the photovoltaic system becomes more convenient , more accurate, less equipment and one less manpower needed.

Our equipment need to under go environmental tests including vibration tests and EMI/EMC tests. While conducting these tests the parameters need to be monitored.
1) In the vibration chamber the noise levels are high and it is difficult to be present in the same room. With this new remote display multimeter the operator can sit in the next room and monitor comfortably.
2) In case of EMI/EMC tests , when the test is under progress the operator is not allowed in the room. Earlier we were running long wires to keep the multimeter out side. With this new remote display multimeter the unit can be in the EMI/EMC room and the display out side for monitoring.

I am frequently engaged in servicing LCD and LED display panels in airports, railway stations and supermarkets. The displays are installed in consumer convenient locations whereas the data is fed from control center yards away. The driver circuit of panels and touch sensitive systems are serviced using multimeters for electrical parameters and temperature of the display. It is impossible for one man to be at the control center and display panels. It is of great inconvenience and discomfort to run for the readings every time a data is altered at the control center. This invites demand for another technician to be on radio for feedback. This thought has definitely gone into the innovative new Fluke 233. I can imagine how efficiently the base can be probed at the display panels and the remote display can be carried to the control center. The control operations and data can be fed and the live readings can be obtained instantly terminating the need for making a run or a second man. The Fluke 233 can increase efficiency in terms of time and man power. I can work at two places simultaneously with the Fluke 233 remote display multimeter.

Currently, our laboratory does onsite calibration of switchboard panels sources onboard shipyard vessels. Many times we encounter the panels are mounted in such a way that it is difficult to have easy access to the rear of the panels.
The rear of the panels is where we can take measurements for the calibrations.
As such, for this kind of job the FLUKE 233 DMM is the best solution.

My nature of engineering work will be dealing with wireless telecommunication (GSM and WCDMA) work which involve in site works checking on considerably mid DC voltage and load current.
I believe Fluke 233 will totally convenient me by checking and measuring on the DC backup rectifier's voltage and load current at site which fluctuates from low to peak air traffic period by making mobile calls as well as broadband services by end users.
History stated there were cases like DC voltage and load current too high causing the rectifier and its battery banks exploded at site.
Fluke 233 will be my ultimate choice which in turns to keep me alive at site during work by measuring the voltage and DC current load 30ft away from it. I will be always happy face whenever get home to see my family.

One Word, "Mobility". This New Fluke 233 is the most versitile tool on the market today. Having the portable, more portable is every tester/users dream. I've been working with electricians, checking continuity, current and voltage readings, etc is a nightmare when I'm at the other end and they are at the other termination point of the equipment. And especially when Inspectors breathing at your back asking for the reading. I radio the guys on the other end and ask them what is the reading which makes it difficult Now with this new Fluke 233 I can hold the display and personally log the readings while I radio my boys at the other end. You can't go wrong with this new Fluke 233.

The transmitter at mobile phone station antennas are safety interlocked to contain high energy RF radiation and prevent exposure hazard. They have to be serviced using datalogging multimeters as per regulations. Complex operation, unavailability of timestamp on entry level models and relatively high cost of training on datalogging multimeters make it almost impracticable and service technicians are left to manually override the safety interlock, thus violating norms. The Fluke 233 is an extremely novel concept. The base can be connected and locked inside while the remote display can show readings with the transmitter running. Even the 802.15.4 2.4 GHz radio will not interfere with GSM or CDMA. I would like to have a Fluke 233 as standard equipment.

Being electrical contractor in the Philippines one of the toughest tasks we are encountering is measuring the voltage of the panel board above six (6)feet.Basically,in order for us to gather voltage measurement we are using step ladder to reach out the highest point of terminal connections such as the main breaker. To do a convenient measurement one person needs to hold the ladder to avoid untoward sudden falling of the person being conducted on the voltage measurement. The person involved on the voltage measurement was not able to hold both the multitester and the two leads simultaneously. This act of unsafe procedure was seen when the work area is crowded and the space is not enough to properly set up of the ladder.I'm sure if i could separate the display from my multimeter, and still get a reading from 30 feet away my voltage measurement would be great.Risk of safety would be eliminated if the person who conducted the measurement could accidentally touch the energized power of the panel board.
In addition on safety concern it could also lessen manpower requirement, effort time and equipment (ladder) to do the voltage measurement.

Often times, my buddy does not report for work and I am left alone to carry on my job in checking the faults of air conditioning systems. Very normal, wall mounted Blower units are installed at high levels for optimum air distribution within the room and condensing units are at low level outside the home. During checks, one technician cannot be at the indoor Blower unit or the outdoor Condensing unit at the same time. Neither can he carry too many tools and equipment plus a ladder at one go. There's a limit to time and ability. Fluke 233 Remote Display Multimeter fits in very fine in a situation like this. The Fluke 233 can be positioned first at the outdoor Condensing unit, with the control terminals clamped. Then the technician can check and verify if the indoor Blower unit is able to send any signal to the outdoor Condensing unit during the switching "on and off". There are many air conditioning equipment distributing companies, sole agents and maintenance teams here which operate their technical teams with their few vans but only one technician each per vehicle. This is due to the normal high staffs turn-over and costs of training and maintaining technicians. The Fluke 233 is undoubtedly a minimum requirement for one man show here.

We could use this for trouble shooting our customer pick and place system (X Y Table) where we need to leave the meter inside the system and still able to read the measurement outside. What we did now is to connect the 2 measuring point with 2 wire from inside the system to the system front were we can control the system & read the measurement at the same time. This is dangerous if the 2 wire is not proper isolated.

Hi.
I believe it is the safest and fastest means of measurement,
We do use fluke meters, but this feature enable us to take measurements faster and safer way.
Put your probes in a live terminal and turn your body to check measurement - you have chance of getting closer or even touch the live parts,
This avoids the risk of turning and doing unwanted excersise during measuring, particularly in live measurements.
Also it is the fastest way to measure i know that I can avoid stretching my body and turning each and every time,
Thanks and regards,

I am working with ABB and I am a service engineer, Our job scope is the provide field site service to Power Plant DCS. As you might aware that DCS are housed in a enclosed cabinet and there are limited and space constraint. Sometimes is rather difficult to place a Full size Fluke meter in an enclosed cabinet but with the Remote Display Multimeter, I guess is easy to handle, whereas the measuring device can be place apart. As a Service engineer we are more concern on the reading hence the Remote Display provide a handy device for us to handle and and i small and light weight to be place in an enclosed cabinet. Sometime we have to climb up to certain height 2m to 2.3m to take analogue readings and with a Full size Fluke meter it makes us difficult to perform such task. But now with the Remote Display Multimeter we are carrying a 2/3 of its size up the ladder to take mearsurement, it guess is the most efficent and handy way of getting the job done. I suggest the it there is magnet attached behind the remote display will be so much better and we can stick it on the cabinet doors and take measurement at any height we went. One more suggestion if the probe can be make more longer will be better.

As a test engineer in an automotive company where time and quality are of essence, efficient tools and gadgets are our best friends. We carry out test measurements of bulky test boxes, large automated test stands and high-powered and delicate modules which require great effort to attain accurate output. With the birth of Fluke 233 remote display multimeter, we can just bring along with us the multimeter display in our desk while remotely controlling our test setup to run several current and voltage tests and closely monitoring the output by simply looking at the multimeter display. Moreover, we don’t have to worry where to place the multimeter in our test stands and test boxes when doing troubleshooting checks since it only covers a little space for the display to be visibly observed by the test engineer. These, in turn, improve the efficiency and quality of our work. The Fluke 233 is definitely an excellent innovation!

I am an electrician in this company. My job includes taking meter reading. My greatest problem is to get accurate reading since the machine measurement actually fluctuates a lot. With The remote readed F233 Fluke Multimeter I coluld virtually takes the reading the moment machine in act of problem that way i could detect the machine problem while it showing the actually problem without being have to be at the swich panel and could see the actuall machine problem at the field with the meter reading on hand.
How convenient for me if I could have the Fluke 233 Multimeter I can help troubleshoot the machines problems and do corrective action on site without being have to be at the swithboard controlling the on-off buttons.
This is why i would congratulate Fluke for their innovative solution for people like me in the field.

I didn't know that there's such a multimeter. If we have a couple of those instruments, our job in instrumentation will be much easier.
The measuring module can be installed in our relay room for measuring voltage signals and the display portion can be read at operator's station at Control Room where we actually feed simulation signals at keyboard.
There will be no need for someone at the relay room to have a radio feedbacking the readout there!
This test instrument model is great!

We bought the Fluke Single Phase Harmonic Analysers in the Department and those are well in use for lab, final year projects and research work purposes.
With the increasing number of students in the lab classes, and with the less number of experiment tables in the lab, it becomesdifficult to demonstrate the experiment by showing readings to the students. I think the Fluke 233 remote display multimeter will be very useful while demonstrating experiments to a group of 5 -6 students at a time.
Apart from this I feel that Fluke may equip us with its various field testing instruments to enable us towork as a third party test agency, as ours is a State Government funded Institute. Fluke may help us in proper advertizing in this regard and may realize the investment by sharing the profit in a time bound manner through an MoU to that effect.

I could use the remote display when monitoring voltage, current or resistance in a high altitude place. With this remote display i could monitor it on my desk from a set frequency without going to the ladder just to check the reading from time to time. It will reduce risk of stepping on a high ladder and reduced down time in a way i could simultaneously monitoring it while doing the reports.
It will also a big help when measuring on environment that a person maybe an additional interference. I'll just placed the Multimeter on the test spot while me monitoring the reading 30 feet away from it.

As a long time fluke meter user, I find it amazing that I could actually monitor the measurements of our "electronic ballast" subjected for burn-in testing from the testing station up to my office table.
It will replace the costly set-up that I made using a bench meter connected at my Personal Computer through our company network and the time required to start-up the software monitoring system.
With this new meter, all I need is to connect the probes to the "ballast" detached the remote display place it beside my PC monitor and there it go, my monitoring starts in just a few minutes.
This is what I would do if I got a hold on this new meter.

When carrying out maintenance, calibration and operation of electrical valve (actuator). Actuator is located into the chamber, during the operating of valve by remote/tele control to set the valve to certain percentage of opening in ranges to check the accuracy of the actuator setting. Operation of valve may take a few minute for a few range setting, we can read the meter from the top outside the chamber. After a complete operation of valve opening/closing then we can proceed to adjust the setting inside the chamber.

I was wondering if I can somehow get this meter to work in remote areas. My job needs me to reach high rise poles to measure the low level voltage and calibrate it using a Fluke meter. The meter needs to capture data in mV level voltage, and we need at least 2 guys to perform this job. If I can use this remote display meter, I will do this job easier, cause I need to put the probe in the top of the pole, and I can calibrate the signal using my laptop in the ground level. The application was on laptop and its bit risky if we want to bring it in the top of the pole. Using this meter I hope that I will remove the risk crashing my laptop in accident. With this meter I can more precisely trimming the measurement with more confidence. It will reducing the calibration time without sacrificing the quality of trimming.
Good job Fluke, you are the most creative vendor who has a creative idea and willingness to get an idea from the fields.
